    Dr. Tanya Freeman-Wisdom

    Secondary School Superintendent

    Dr. Tanya Freeman-Wisdom began her career in education as an English Language Arts teacher at Hyde Park High School. She also served as the school's assistant headmaster for two years before being named director of curriculum, assessment, and placement at the Community Academy of Science and Health (CASH). In 2009, she became the headmaster of CASH. Under her leadership, CASH was nominated for the "Thomas W. Payzant School on the Move" award in 2013-2014. In 2017, Dr. Freeman-Wisdom was appointed as the headmaster of her alma mater, the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science. With an unrelenting belief that all students need access to rigorous coursework, Dr. Freeman-Wisdom expanded the science pathways programs and significantly increased student access to advanced placement courses. With this laser focus, the O’Bryant most recently ranked as the 5th best public high school in Massachusetts.

    A lifelong learner, Dr. Freeman-Wisdom earned her doctorate from Boston College. She earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Simmons College, where she taught as an adjunct professor. Dr. Freeman-Wisdom also holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

    Dr. Freeman-Wisdom brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the secondary superintendent role. She is passionate about supporting school leaders to establish settings where all students thrive and emerge fully prepared for college, career, and life.
