    Neva Coakley-Grice is most recently the BPS Chief of Safety Services.

    Before joining the BPS team, Ms. Coakley-Grice worked for the Boston Police Department (BPD) for 27 years. With decades of experience building community relations in the City of Boston, Ms. Coakley-Grice is committed to forging relationships and cultivating trust with the community to ensure students, staff and families feel safe and supported in Boston schools.

    Ms. Coakley-Grice has spent her entire professional career working in Boston, starting as a BPD officer in South Boston where she cherished her time working with students at the former Gavin Middle School and Tynan Elementary School.

    In 2019, Ms. Coakley-Grice was awarded the prestigious Spirit of MAWLE (Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement) Mentoring Award. Prior to joining BPS, Ms. Coakley-Grice worked in the newly formulated Bureau of Community Engagement, implementing the Police Commissioner's vision of community relations. The focus of the department was to ensure every police district has a dedicated and consistent community policing effort by concentrating on building relationships in the neighborhoods.
